Harte Peat

Harte Peat Ltd., was founded in 1987 by Tommy and Kay O'Harte to provide casing soil for the Mushroom growing industry. In 1994 the company won the RTE "Up and Running" Business of the Year as well as Forbairt Compnay of the Month in 1995.
In 1997 as part of a major investment we installed a computer controlled blending mixing and bagging line.
Harte Peat was awarded the prestigious ISO 9002 registration for its Quality System.
Harte Peat own and operate over 400 acres of Peat bog in Ireland. The company operates its peat extraction processes in line with best environalmental and industry practice.
Since 1992 Harte Peat has provided peat to the potting soil and growing media industry in the Netherlands.
In 2003 we carried out extensive product trials in Ireland of Professional Growing Media specifically designed for the Professional Grower. In another major investment the company built a 22000sq ft Screening mixing and production facility.
In 2004 Harte Peat launched the Harte Professionalâ„¢ range of products. This range of Professional Growing media is marketed throughout Ireland by J.F.McKenna & Sons Ltd.
Harte Peat has always had difficulty finding suitable peat harvesting and processing equipment, this has led the company to build peat processing equipment for its own use. In 2003/4 the company began a programme of research and Development which has resulted in a range of efficient, reliable and cost effective peat processing machines being designed and built by the company. In 2005 the company began supplying equipment to the mushroom growing industry in Ireland.
